Julie Keane Aviation offers training for Private, Sport,  Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) applicants. In addition, JKA offers instruction for Tail Wheel Endorsements, Flight Reviews, Instrument Proficiency Checks and Garmin 430/530/1000 Systems Training.

JKA Training uses a structured syllabus yet remains flexible to facilitate each student’s needs and learning styles.

Private Pilot License

By far the most common rating, the Private Pilot License requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time(the national average is closer to 75).  JKA students average approximately  55 hours. The typical plane used is a Cessna 172, however some students prefer to begin their training in a tail wheel aircraft.

Tried and True C-172

Sport Pilot License

Newest of the aviation licenses, the Sport Pilot License requires a minimum of 20 hours of flight time with the average time to completion being closer to 35 hours. Julie was the first Flight Instructor in San Diego County to offer Sport Pilot Training and has been administering Sport Pilot Check Rides as a Designated Pilot Examiner since 2005.
